Fleet Manager

The Opportunity

Leavitt Industrial Group is looking for a motivated Fleet Manager to join our team in Coquitlam, British Columbia. As the Fleet Manager, you will be accountable for the performance, cost, utilization, and lifecycle management of the company’s vehicle and mobile equipment fleet.

You will own fleet outcomes end-to-end, including availability, safety, and total cost of ownership, while partnering with Procurement on sourcing and contracting activities. This role plays a critical part in driving measurable improvements in utilization, uptime, and cost through disciplined lifecycle planning, data-driven decision-making, and strong operational execution across field teams and external partners.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As the Fleet Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute a multi-year fleet strategy aligned with operational demand and financial objectives
  • Define and manage lifecycle standards including utilization targets, replacement thresholds, and redeployment strategies
  • Optimize fleet size, mix, and deployment to maximize utilization and minimize total cost of ownership
  • Own fleet financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through improved utilization, right-sizing, and lifecycle optimization
  • Provide financial insights and business cases to support capital planning and procurement decisions
  • Partner with Procurement on supplier selection, negotiations, and contract execution
  • Govern vendor and Fleet Management Company (FMC) performance through SLAs, KPIs, and regular reviews
  • Implement and enforce preventive maintenance programs to maximize uptime and asset life
  • Monitor key performance metrics including downtime, maintenance costs, and PM compliance
  • Lead fuel and energy efficiency initiatives including idle reduction and operator behavior improvements
  • Deploy and manage telematics and fleet systems to track utilization, location, and performance
  • Translate data insights into actionable improvements such as right-sizing and maintenance optimization
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements
  • Develop and enforce fleet safety programs, training, and incident management protocols
  • Deliver regular reporting on fleet KPIs, cost performance, and operational risks
  • Maintain accurate and audit-ready fleet documentation and records
  • Lead initiatives to improve sustainability, including electrification and alternative energy where viable
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance fleet performance and visibility
  • Lead and develop fleet personnel, ensuring clear accountability and performance expectations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, Finance, and HSE teams
  • Establish emergency response plans for accidents, breakdowns, and operational disruptions

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

  • 7–10+ years of experience in fleet management, operations, or asset-intensive environments
  • Proven experience managing fleet performance, lifecycle strategy, and cost optimization
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making
  • Experience working with Procurement and external service providers (FMCs, maintenance networks)
  • Proficiency in telematics systems, fleet management tools, and data analytics
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive operational improvements

The base pay range for this role is: $115,000 to $125,000 per year, depending on experience.

This is an onsite role based in Coquitlam, British Columbia.
